Mount Rushmore you stand tall and strong
You’re never ever ever wrong
You seem so lonely and lost and sad
And when it is stormy you almost seem mad
Mount Rushmore you stand with your faces four
Loved and looked at and still wanting more
When it rains you seem to weep
Then in the ground your tears seep
To nurture a tree a plant or a flower
Looking down at us with not so much as a glower
Mount Rushmore you stand with glory and fame
Your faces look so docile and tame
I see you in my family and friends
In my house in my heart and my love always wins
So I am going back next summer to see you again!

Ooh, it's really great how you personify the portraits of Mount Rushmore, giving them so much emotion and humanity. I thoroughly enjoy the idea that they are "still wanting more"...we put so much of our hopes and dreams into those faces, but in turn, they do the same to us! It brings them to life, filling them with the expectations of our predecessors. Super neat, excellent job!

LOL, SO AMAZING!! WOW, you guys are just FLOORING ME! This is a prompt I had so much trouble with (and very little inspiration)!! The humanity you added to this, the feeling of personage owned through the good and bad... it's lovely! And such a fun rhyme and meter!

This can go into the textbook that students can read. Well written and especially since it's a poem. Lovely work!

I would like to see Mt. Rushmore some day. I enjoyed the rhymes in your poem. Rhymed poetry is hard to write.

I liked this interpretation-- and in the pictures I've seen, they're all gazing into the distance as if searching for something. But what?

Nice work!

I haven't seen Rushmore ... but it has always intrigued me those faces. The expression and the pondering of why that particular expression for the particular leader.

This was a short and crisp poem and I loved it for being that and also for the emotions and thoughts that the faces seem to be having.
